What to Order at Meze Miami: A First-Timer's Guide

· 5 min read

Grilled branzino fillets with capers, arugula salad and a grilled lemon on a blue plate

Meze Miami is a Mediterranean restaurant on Biscayne Blvd in Miami, and the menu is built for sharing. If it is your first visit, here is how we would order.

1. Start with meze for the table

Meze are small plates, so order a few and pass them around. Good first choices:

  • Meze Sampler: hummus, babaganoush, dolmades, tzatziki and shakshuka on one plate. The easiest way to try several dips at once.
  • Grilled Octopus: char-grilled octopus served with arugula.
  • Spanakopita: phyllo pastry filled with feta cheese and spinach.
  • Cheese Saganaki: lightly fried kefalograviera cheese served with lemon.
  • Falafel: ground chickpeas with herbs and celery, served with hummus tahini.

2. Pick a main course

From the sea

  • Fillet Branzino: Mediterranean-style with lemon sauce, capers and mixed greens.
  • Grilled Salmon: grilled fillet served with steamed broccoli and greens.
  • Steamed Branzino: tender branzino gently cooked with fresh tomatoes, peppers, onions, garlic, lemon and Mediterranean herbs in a light, flavorful broth.
  • Sautéed Shrimp: lemon and butter with a light tomato sauce.

From the grill and the oven

  • Chicken Kebab: grilled tender chicken chunks served with special sauce.
  • Beef Keftedes: char-grilled mini beef meatballs.
  • Lahmacun (2 pieces): thin and crispy flatbread topped with seasoned ground beef, tomatoes, peppers, onions and Mediterranean herbs, served with fresh parsley and lemon.
  • Manti: beef dumplings topped with special sauce and garlic yogurt.
  • Braised Lamb Shank: slow-braised lamb shank with potatoes and carrots.
  • Lamb Chops: grilled Australian lamb chops served with steak fries and broccoli.
  • Beef Shish: tender marinated beef, skewered and flame-grilled with Mediterranean spices.
  • Mix Grill (for two): keftedes, chicken and doner gyro served with rice and tzatziki. A good choice when you cannot decide.

Sides

Add seasoned rice, French fries (served with olive oil and herbs), roasted potatoes or sautéed broccoli for the table.

3. Finish with dessert and Turkish coffee

  • Baklava: homemade baklava with pistachios.
  • Kunefe: traditional shredded pastry with a sweet cheese filling, baked to perfection.

Pair dessert with Turkish tea, Turkish coffee or an espresso from our drinks menu.
